7 DIY Home Fixes You Can Do Without Calling a Pro

Not every home problem needs a handyman. With just a few basic tools, you can handle minor repairs yourself — saving both time and money. At odddds, we believe in empowering you with the right tools and know-how for everyday fixes.

1. Squeaky Door Hinges

All you need is a little WD-40 or cooking oil and a cloth. Just apply to the hinge pins and swing the door a few times. Problem solved!

2. Loose Cabinet Handles

Grab your screwdriver and tighten the screws. If they keep slipping out, a drop of wood glue in the hole will hold them snugly in place.

3. Wobbly Chair Legs

Use an adjustable wrench to tighten bolts or apply wood glue for a more permanent fix. Clamp it overnight if needed.

4. Clogged Shower Head

Unscrew it and soak in vinegar for an hour. Use a toothbrush to scrub out the residue before screwing it back on.

5. Picture Frames That Won’t Stay Straight

Use adhesive strips or wall putty to hold the bottom corners in place. No more tilting!

6. Jammed Drawer Slides

Rub a candle or bar soap along the runners. It'll slide like new without any tools at all.

7. Peeling Wall Hooks

Replace with new adhesive hooks or use small screws and anchors for a stronger hold. A drill and level will come in handy here.
